Every year in early fall, we start to plan for the toy and food drive and the craft show. During those fall months we collect canned food and slightly used toys and around Christmas time we deliver these items to families in need around the Crothersville area. With the help of local churches, the community, the school, and the local volunteer fire department, we are able to make many families happy for the holidays. This past year we collected over 3 tons of food. This was our eleventh year of bringing joy to the needy families.
The craft show is also another way of making money for the toy and food drive. We send out members to the local craft bazaars and tell the vendors that we are hosting a craft show. We usually get between 50 and 100 vendors to come and sell their items. We sell them booth spaces and take that money and put it into the toy and food drive. The vendors love coming to our craft show, because our members help them bring in their items, help them set up, and tear down after a productive day. Thanks to those vendors, we raised $2,000 for the toy and food drive! |
